Public Relations at UC Merced produces and disseminates a wide range of news and information about the university, its people and its achievements. Our goal is to keep the public well informed and updated on the university’s progress as the newest campus in the UC system and the first ever in the San Joaquin Valley.
Over time, we hope to build public knowledge, support and enthusiasm for UC Merced’s special mission as a vital catalyst for educational and economic development throughout the region — and as the next world-class research university in the UC system.
Public Relations maintains and enhances the campus's main website and other top-level UC Merced sites, which feature:
We research and provide information for news stories; issue press releases; facilitate interviews with a variety of campus sources, including faculty experts, staff and students; and we publicize events, programs and updated campus information.
Marketing tools, such as publications, are another avenue with which our office provides support to ensure campus messages are clearly communicated and understood.

We produce and distribute two email products for the campus community — but are also available to subscribers from outside of the university.
Weekly Update, out every Friday, provides a quick recap of the biggest news of the week by way of media clips, university news stories, social media highlights, upcoming events and more.
